Scientists Warn of Quaternary disinfectant dangers
Scientists Warn of Quaternary disinfectant dangers

Scientists, issue warning about the overuse of antimicrobial chemicals, and in particular, the use of quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs).

The COVID-19 pandemic drastically increased levels of chemicals used everywhere, impacting human exposure at unprecedented levels everywhere- at work, school, stores and restaurants. Evidence is increasing that the use of disinfectants and cleaning products are contributing to antimicrobial resistance and other health concerns. The 2023 study is critical of the EPA approach to QAC risk assessment, Safer Chemicals program and the FDA.
